Black Girls, believers & Body Trust®

Black Girls, Believers & Body Trust® is an Intersectional Healing and Liberation course for Black women who identify as Believers and are ready to reclaim a life of Balance, Spiritual Trust, and Embodied Freedom. This course supports participants in healing their relationships with food and their bodies while divesting from Diet Culture and dismantling the shame scripts often reinforced by patriarchy, beauty/media messaging, and survival-based coping.

Angela Braxton-Johnson

Through poetry as core text, gentle reflection, Body Trust® tools, story-sharing, and Spirit-led practices, participants will explore their “Body Stories,” name their ruptures, honor their reckonings, and practice real reclamation. This is not a perfection project. It’s a homecoming—back to your truth, your body, your faith, your worth, and your right to live free.

Course Objectives

  • Define Body Trust® and describe how reclaiming it supports liberation from Diet Culture and weight stigma.

  • Identify personal and systemic rupture points that disrupted trust with body, food, faith, and self (including racism, patriarchy, trauma, and beauty norms).

  • Map their Body Story using The Rupture, The Reckoning, and The Reclamation and identify what they are ready to rewrite and restory.

  • Apply Body Trust® tools and practices (within your licensed framework) to support attunement, nourishment, compassion, and embodied agency.

  • Increase Spiritual Trust by strengthening reliance on God in ways that heal rather than shame, and by separating liberating faith from patriarchal distortion.

  • Reclaim cultural and historical truth to support identity, dignity, confidence, and self-acceptance.

  • Develop media and beauty resistance skills to reduce comparison, internalized narratives, and body-based performance.

  • Create a personal Balance Womanifesto that integrates faith practices, boundaries, rest, nourishment, community support, and Black Joy.

  • Practice consent-based story sharing and community care skills that promote safety, belonging, bravery and non-comparison.

  • Craft a personal Reclamation Statement that names how they will live forward in embodied freedom.

  • Explain the racist origins of the BMI.

This course weaves together Body Trust® + Black truth-telling + liberating faith + poetry to help Black women heal at the intersections.

Participants will be guided to name what has harmed them, honor what has carried them, and practice what restores them.

Each module follows a repeatable structure—

Read + Listen + View (RLV) + Reflect + Write + Practice + Pray + Share and Embody—so participants learn not only concepts, but a sustainable rhythm for ongoing healing.

The outcome is not “fixing your body.” The outcome is reclaiming your life: increased self-acceptance (self-love as bonus), stronger spiritual trust, healthier boundaries, more balance, and practical tools to

keep choosing freedom
